Located on Cherokee Lake, Panther Creek State Park features 17 different hiking trails covering more than 30 miles of terrain. The park also offers a disc golf course and horseback riding trails.

Campsites
Panther Creek State Park features a large fan-shaped swimming pool and lots of grassy areas. The lake is a great fishing spot with year-round catches of bass, crappie and catfish.
The park’s 17 hiking trails cover more than 30 miles of terrain. The Point Lookout Trail is a must-do with its spectacular view from 1,460 feet above sea level.
The campground has 50 campsites with water and 20, 30, and 50-amp electrical hookups, grills, picnic tables, and fire rings. It also has two bathhouses with hot showers, commodes and lavatories. A laundromat is available and there is a dump station for self-contained trailer rigs. The campground is open on a first-come, first-serve basis with a maximum stay of two weeks. It accepts reservations from April 1 through mid-October.
Hiking Trails
The park’s 17 hiking trails cover more than 30 miles of terrain with a variety of difficulties. Highlights include views of Cherokee Lake and the Cumberland Mountains from Point Lookout Trail that reaches an elevation of 1,460 feet.
One of the most popular hikes is Panther Creek Falls, a series of multi-tiered waterfalls set among mossy boulders and towering trees. This 7-mile adventure also explores a lush stretch of the Chattahoochee National Forest.
After a long day on the trails, come back to the campground and relax in your RV rental. The 50 campsites feature water, electrical hookups, grills and fire rings. Disc Golf Course
There is an 18-hole disc golf course available at Panther Creek State Park. It is a Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) approved course with concrete tee pads and layout maps at each hole.
This course is level terrain and mowed shorter than the rough during summer defining fairways nicely. It is perfect for beginners and families with children. The park hosts the Tennessee State Disc Golf Championship each year that draws 500+ professional and amateur disc golfers from across the region to Morristown.
For those who are interested in learning about the area’s early history, a trip to the Crockett Tavern Museum is recommended. The museum is a replica of Davy Crockett’s tavern that was established in Morristown when the state was still the Southwest Territory.
Boat Ramp
Located near Cherokee Lake, Panther Creek State Park is ideal for those who want to spend their days on the water. There is a boat ramp at the park that allows guests to launch their boats from mid-April through late September.
Visitors can also hike the 17 hiking trails that cover 30 miles of terrain in this beautiful park. The Point Lookout Trail offers views of the park’s scenic waterfront and Cumberland Mountains. The park also has 15 miles of mountain biking trails that range in difficulty from novice to expert.
While visiting the park, take the time to learn about Davy Crockett at the Crockett Tavern Museum. It is a reproduction of the family business that was started by this famous frontiersman and soldier.
